Airport Cyber Resilience Simulator

Live financial-impact cyber-attack simulation for airport critical infrastructure.

Overview

The Airport Cyber Resilience Simulator is a kiosk-style, server-authoritative training simulation that puts a live per-second financial-loss engine behind a real UK airport's economic profile, streamed to an immersive command-centre display so a room can watch, in real time, exactly what a cyber incident costs.

Features

  • 29 real UK passenger airports, each with its own revenue-per-second and regulatory-fine profile
  • 26 airport infrastructure nodes across baggage handling, check-in, ATC tower, HVAC, retail POS and more
  • 9 distinct attack playbooks — ransomware, IoT botnet, API breach, credential theft, signal spoofing, FIDS defacement, access control, PII breach, EV grid overload
  • Live financial engine: operational cost + regulatory fines + mitigation costs, recalculated every second
  • Three mitigation trade-offs per incident — isolate, throttle, or pay to patch against a race-to-patch clock
  • Crisis Communications state machine with a reputational-loss multiplier and statutory-notification penalties

Capabilities

  • Immersive 1920×1080 kiosk display with a 90-second idle attract loop
  • Synthesised Web Audio soundscape and a dynamic runway-lighting strip
  • WebSocket-driven, server-authoritative simulation state
  • Aligned to NCSC CAF, the UK Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, and CAA/DfT notification requirements
  • Fully self-contained — vendored frontend libraries, no runtime internet dependency

Benefits

  • Turns an abstract cyber-risk conversation into a live number the whole room can watch climb
  • Gives airport ops and security stakeholders a shared, visceral sense of incident cost and tempo
  • Runs standalone at events, briefings or tabletop exercises with zero internet dependency

How it links to other apps

The Airport Cyber Resilience Simulator runs standalone as a training and awareness tool — it doesn't exchange data with the other Synapse applications today.
